شكؤا متابعينا الكرام لمتابعتكم خبر عن Central Bank of Egypt Explains Reasons Behind March 2025 Inflation Decline
The annual headline inflation rate in urban areas recorded a slight increase, reaching 13.6% in March 2025, compared to 12.8% in February 2025. This was mainly driven by a temporary surge in fresh fruit prices. However, inflation rates remain relatively low, supported by a favorable base effect and relative stability in monthly inflation developments, as reflected in core inflation indicators.
According to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), the annual core inflation rate continued its downward trend, dropping to 9.4% in March 2025, down from 10.0% in February 2025—marking a single-digit figure for the first time in nearly three years. This is in line with the continued monthly decline in core inflation, which recorded 0.9% in March 2025, compared to 1.6% in February 2025 and 1.4% in March 2024. These figures reflect a relative stability in monthly inflation dynamics, excluding volatile items like fresh vegetables and fruits, and a slowdown in non-food goods inflation.
Core food inflation remained below its historical average during March 2025, showing only a slight increase in line with seasonal patterns associated with the month of Ramadan.
The monthly headline inflation in urban areas reached 1.7% in March 2025, compared to 1.0% in March 2024 and 1.4% in February 2025. In addition to developments in core food and non-food items, the monthly inflation was notably impacted by a price shock in fresh fruit, which exceeded its usual seasonal trend. On the other hand, prices of regulated goods remained stable during the month.
In rural areas, the annual headline inflation rate slightly increased to 12.5% in March 2025, up from 12.2% in February 2025.
Similarly, the nationwide annual inflation rate rose to 13.1% in March 2025, compared to 12.5% in February 2025.
